Keeping the ship ship-shape

We've never been on a cruise before, so it's been fascinating seeing how it operates. As a French ship, the Captain, officers, reception staff (and our butler!!) are French. The rest of the crew (sailors, housekeeping, restaurant) are Indonesian. Apart from a handful of receptionists, they are all men. They work 8 months on and 2 months off while circling the globe. The ship is only 3 weeks old, so they've just started out. They have a strict routine. While most of the passengers were ashore yesterday, the ship was scrubbed from top to bottom. Today we are at sea, so there are lots of equipment checks and safety drills. The Indonesians generally feel cold in Europe, but they are not complaining today. You probably wouldn't guess looking at the photo that we are in the North Atlantic!
