Naked car car

My father-in-law has made more progress on the restoration of my car car, as shown here (cf blips of 23rd September 2024, and 16th May 2024). I think that the body looks naked in this shot.

It's been a strange day. It began well with baking, and by midday I had popped two Christmas cakes in the oven. However, after lunch I was feeling rather unwell with a runny nose, sneezing, and a looming headache so I took myself to bed with Radio 4 for the afternoon.

I slept through Any questions, then dozed on and off when Any answers came on. The archers Saturday repeat brought me back to proper listening. The great treat of my couple of hours in bed, however, was the afternoon play. This was an adaptation of It can't happen here. I read this book in late 2020, on the recommendation of Lorna Lloyd, who mentioned it in her war diary on November 14th 1940. The adaptation was very good, framing the plot in a similar way to that I used to present Lorna Lloyd's war diary on Blipfoto.

I felt a lot better after my snooze. Most importantly I had stopped sneezing. This meant that I felt well enough for a night out with Mummy hazelh. We had tickets for a traditional/folk music performance by Bogle Mufty at St Cecilia's Hall. Mr hazelh dropped us off there, and picked us up afterwards.

The band was suffering a little because their guitarist/fiddle player was absent due to illness, and the lead singer was recovering from a cold herself. Even so, we enjoyed the band's wide and witty repertoire. They played a few of my favourites songs - Jolene, Dirty old townThe Wellerman sea shanty - and created some clever and unexpected mashes, such as Madonna's Like a prayer with The bonnie bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond! The small audience had a great time, with several people dancing in the space at the back of the hall. It was lovely to watch Mummy hazelh enjoy the music from our prime position in the front row - even though 20 minutes afterwards she had no recollection of the concert at all :-(

While we were out, Mr hazelh cooked a fabulous arrabbiata pasta dish for our supper. After we devoured this, the three of us watched some more Ludwig and New Zealand Traitors

Exercise today: none, apart from a little walking (7089 steps).
