Open Water Competition Day.
I had an amazing day today and could have blipped so many things. I've gone for my open water competition that I swam in this morning. I have to say the nerves kicked in big time as I really thought I'd be a bit rubbish as I've only been swimming training once a week for the past 4 weeks. I did the 1.5k. There were 5 different distances on the go and we all had to start in different places in the river. Each distance wore a different colour hat...mine was obviously yellow. I didn't like the mass start as it can be quite brutal with arms and legs flying everywhere. Anyway I swam as best as I could and tried to really speed up at the end. When I finished I went all disorientated....it's really quite odd. I climbed up the steps and then was interviewed. They were asking all kind of questions which I really wasn't ready for but it was a bit of fun. Anyway they read out the results and I won not only my age group but I was fastest overall female for the 1.5k. I am well pleased with myself as I did my fastest time as well. Not bad on the training I've done.
When we came back our neighbours horse was over our side of the river eating from where we had cleared. I took some great photos of him. It's nice that he as helped clear the riverbank ready for the work to start tomorrow.
Later I went to a food and drinks festival. It was so hot. There was lots of different foods and drinks to sample and buy. I love balsamic vinegar and was in my element trying all the different kinds. I tried lots of cheeses, breads, olives, nuts, fudges, sauces and other various bits. Spent a fortune but its all good stuff.
Came home and sat around the pool with a lovely gin and tonic....I love days like this.
