Wound up in Wexford

Enoch Arden

It rained all day.  W managed to get some leaves cleared from the front grass in gentle drizzle, but it subsequently became much more of a downpour, and we did indoor stuff.

We did some washing - hung over racks and bannisters.  And I caught up with sorting the clean, dry laundry.  We made pikelets.

In the evening, we went to Wexford for an evening entertainment - Richard Strauss did a narrator & piano version of a poem by Tennyson entitled Enoch Arden.  The cellist, Annette Cleary, and pianist, Reamonn Keary, have arranged this for cello, piano and narrator.  The narrator was Barry McGovern.

Before the wonderfully melodramatic performance, the two musicians also played several arrangements of other Richard Strauss works.
