Striped Hover-fly "the footballer"

Another macro blip of an insect.
I liked the colours of this one, especially on this thistle. I think this is The Striped Hover-fly also sometimes called the Sun-Fly or "The Footballer" (because of the colourful striped strip). Latin name is Helophilus pendulus. I think it is a male, because males have larger eyes than females. It is possible it is Helophilus trivittatus which looks very similar but that species is said to have paler yellow patches on the abdomen.
