Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny and The Mini Princesses,

Smashley bought Bonnie (his dog) a new bed yesterday and left it in the hall when he came home.

In the 5 minutes it took him to make me a cup of tea, she had dragged it halfway up the stairs, chewed a hole in it and pulled out some of the stuffing.

This morning Smashley sewed up the hole and was feeling very pleased with himself. After breakfast, he went upstairs to find Bonnie sitting in her very own winter wonderland, surrounded by balls of white stuffing.

Having experienced this many times when Murphy was young, I was crying but Smashley now sees this as a battle of wills. He re-sewed the bed and hid it on top of a wardrobe until bedtime.

I admire his optimism…and set him a link to the bed we ended up getting Murphy. Just in case!

We had a great day walking by Little Langdale, stopping at a country pub for lunch and a beer and then back via Hodge House Quarry which was stunningly dramatic.

We had a night by the fire with Smashley and Nicely throwing out career suggestions after a few glasses of red wine. Smashley came up with some IT avenues but Nicely said she had the perfect idea - apparently there’s a shortage of female middle-aged extras for TV!
