A Market Place Bow, Faversham

I had a rather lovely surprise yesterday. Framelines is a street photography magazine and community and every month they set an assignment for photographers to take part in. September's subject matter was "Reflections" and to my amazement my image was chosen and included in their online gallery. I'm chuffed to bits, especially as I've entered images for their other assignments and not been picked. I think it's taught me perseverance is key. You've just got to keep on trying!
Today we thought we'd go and visit Faversham as we hadn't been in a while. The last time we went was on a very grey and cold Monday when virtually everything was shut. Luckily, this time the sun was out and the shops, and more importantly, the pubs were open. Our first thought was to head to Standard Quay as it's situated on a quiet bend of the Medway and also has a lovely historic pub (it's over three hundred years old) on it's edge called the Anchor Inn. We sat in it's snug and consumed a pint and a packet of crisps each to refresh ourselves as we'd forgotten to have breakfast. We then wandered round the quay itself which has lots of small independent shops and places to eat. This is where I took the last extra - it had flag bunting zig-zagging across it's courtyard and against the blue sky it looked so striking.
We then headed back to the centre of town and that's where I took the rest of the images. With the main I liked the contrast between the florists (I also loved the bow in the woman's hair) and the empty cafe/restaurant next door. With the first extra it was the dapper gentleman's attire that struck me the most and the way he was looking into his bag. The second extra is of a discount furniture store and it's Halloween display. We had a lovely time in Faversham and will definitely go back again soon.
I've realised today is my six year blipversary - I started way back on the 22nd April 2012 so it's taken me a long and winding road to get here but I love Blipfoto just as much now as I did way back then. It's such a positive, kind and welcoming community full of positive, kind and welcoming people and it's enriched my life in so many ways.
