Life is a Challenge!

IT'S THURSDAY...

…and not only is it Community Fridge Day but it’s also Day 3 of BCAM - or to the uninitiated - Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We had a good time at the Community Fridge with lots of chat, coffee and cake - but I only participated in the first one! I was sorely tempted by one of the leftover pieces of ginger cake from the MacMillan cake sale on Monday - it smelled so good and ginger cake is my absolute favourite, but I resisted the temptation and didn’t even sample the piece that had broken off - that’s definitely a “win” for me!  Let’s hope that the scales are kind to me tomorrow morning!

It was so good to see the sunshine, which meant that those who queue from 9 o’clock didn't get wet today.  We don't open until 11 o'clock, but I know that lots of people like to get to the Fridge early and also as they have made friends with people in the queue, they enjoy chatting.

I didn't think that I would find much pink today but from the beautiful chrysanthemums to pink cakes and pies in a pink/purple box and even Whiskas for cats in a pink pack, I was very fortunate.

I had to leave early as I had an appointment with my optician, Gill, at Leightons.  Fortunately, I managed to find a parking spot right outside, which was great.  Whilst sitting waiting inside, I suddenly spotted an office chair, which had obviously been dumped in the few minutes between me leaving the car and going into the opticians.

Kate, the Manager, and I mused about why people would just dump a chair and came to the conclusion that it was someone who just couldn't be bothered to go to the tip!  I did take a shot of the chair, see my extra, and it has a definite "list to the left", obviously the reason for getting rid of it, but that’s no reason to dump it on a busy street!

All was good for me at the opticians, and Gill said that she was pleased that my eyes were looking good, so putting the drops in and using the heat mask bag was obviously working.  We always have a great chat - about many different things - and I really enjoy seeing her.  My next appointment will be in two months’ time and hopefully, there will be even more improvement.  As well as the blurriness in my left eye, following the cataract surgery, I have a chalazion, similar to a stye in my right eye, so it’s good that they are “keeping an eye” on it - pun intended, but then, I would expect nothing else from our Lovely People at Leightons.

Looking forward to a quiet evening - it’s been a long day - for both of us, as Mr. HCB has been busy in the garden, so once the evening meal is done, we can both relax.

Thank you all for clicking - and please continue to do so, because it means that those who cannot afford to pay can have a free mammogram and it will make a HUGE difference.  This is the LINK!
