Living my dream

Being invisible

This was Bean's response to my invitation to go for a walk at lunchtime.

She lay very very still; neither breathing nor blinking, to convince me she wasn't there and therefore couldn't possibly be expected to go out into the rain.

She had a point. It has poured steadily all day and we are currently under a Red Rain Warning (potential danger to life and property). However we are on the edge of the warning area and it isn't too bad. Not yet at least.

A walk was needed, for both of our sakes.

Amazingly I managed to spy Bean through her camouflage and after some considerable persuasion she stuck her nose out of the door and I hoozled her right outside.

More cajoling later, she happily ran around the paddocks, looking for bunnies and hares (none were stupid enough to be out in this weather).

It seems that it is the first raindrops on her very thin coat which Bean dislikes the most. Once she is drenched and dripping she is almost unaware of it. Maybe I should chuck a bucket of water over her before we venture out on wet days, to get her over that initial twitching and reluctance? I might never be forgiven...

By the way, Bean does have a beautiful yellow raincoat. It was a gift from the lovely blipper Tivoli. It fits perfectly and she looks good in it.

However, for some bizarre reason, once she has it on she won't relieve herself. Since any walk involves at least dozen pees this is a real problem. So now she gets soaked, but pees to her heart's content.
