Gray Day

I pushed myself out of bed at 8:00. I took a quick shower, ate a bite of breakfast and headed to the grocery store. My pick up order was ready when promised. From there, I headed to our county seat to look for my blip. Businesses are decorating for Fall. Nothing blip worthy jumped out at me. I’ve gotten a blip from the waterfront before but not when it was overcast and gray. I think it is still peaceful regardless of the weather. My next stop was to visit the ortho specialist for a follow up on my knee. You may have noticed I haven’t whined about any pains lately. That’s because my legs are so much better. Folks are concerned about this longshoremen strike. Kristen asked me to pick up critical groceries for her so I did. I had the emergency supplies my sister and I are donating to the hurricane relief effort. The drop off point is near my mother so I visited with her first. About an hour before her card party was due to begin, she realized she had nothing to serve her guests. The poor woman was frantic. I cleaned out her refrigerator to assess the situation. Thankfully I still had Kristen’s groceries in coolers in my car. I quickly threw together dinner: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, sliced homegrown tomatoes, deviled eggs and slaw. The last three items were already in the refrigerator from a few days ago. My mother elevated me to sainthood. lol. There was plenty of sunshine in her kitchen when I left to meet Kristen. We heard other good news. Our countians are a compassionate lot. The folks coordinating the relief effort have had to cancel the U-Haul truck they rented. The supplies have grown so much they need a tractor trailer to deliver it all. More sunshine for the gray days our southern countrymen are experiencing. Sadly though, the death toll is rising. My evening has been quiet. Hoping yours are also. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by.
