Rare sheep with a rich heritage
Most days on my regular walk up the road I see this flock of rare sheep. These Castlemilk Moorits belong to an enterprising young woman dedicated to providing a sustainable way of living on her small holding .
Originally the sheep were created as a decorative breed in the early 1900s for Sir John Jardine’s estate on the Scottish Borders. Today there are only about 1,000 in existence.
Hence the warning: Do not feed the animals.
