'Winter fun at the snow'
An impromptu trip up to the snow today.
A quick snow check this morning, and yes yesterday's cold and wet weather brought 45cm of fresh snow to our closest snowfield to Melbourne at Mount Donna Buang, so we had breakfast and packed up the car with jackets, gloves and lots of warm things to head up the mountain for a bit of fun.
There is no skiing up here, just snow play and tobogganing which suited us perfectly and only and hour and a half drive from home. We had a stop off at Warburton which is a little town at the base of the mountain for some hot freshly made pies from the bakery and to pick up a beanie and gloves for Bella as this was her first proper trip to the snow.
The kids had an absolute ball today, making snowballs and a snowman, slipping and sliding on the ice and snow and the weather was great up there today.
On the way home we decided to make a detour past a local chocolate shop (or so we thought). WOW what a shock this place was. We were imagining a small little boutique chocolate shop off the beaten track in the middle of nowhere, but what we discovered was something out of this world. As we turned the corner in to the car park, we first noticed a full tour bus parked there and the huge carpark was practically full with probably 100 or so cars. This was a full on chocolate lovers dream. Inside was the factory with glass windows from the shop area so that you could watch everything being hand made. Just inside the main entry were 3 huge bowls overflowing with chocolate buddies and all for free, yes I said free, eat as many as you like.
It was like being inside Willy Wonkas chocolate factory. We all had an ice cream too, oooohhhhh gee it was good. I had the best vanilla ice cream I have ever tasted. Apparently it only opened last December so not a lot of people know about it yet. We'll be back.
All in all a great day out.
