G’s Violin

Predictably, I’m in dire need of a duvet day today - though I’m always reluctant to to stay in bed so it’s a sofa day instead. I spend much of my time catching up with as many journals as I can - and the ongoing sorting through shots for competitions. I keep giving myself deadlines which constantly get pushed back - though the official deadlines are looming fast!

G has been determined not to put our heating on until October, but he relents today - a whole day early! Unfortunately, our boiler protests, making the most disturbing sounds. It’s been happy to produce hot water - and thank goodness, continues to do so - but heating is a bridge too far. It’s 18 years old, but while they have the parts, the gas engineers continue to maintain it. The man appears after lunch, diagnoses it’s the motor, thinks he has a replacement but discovers it’s the wrong model so has to order one. This will be here in a day or two, but we won’t be home until next Monday - or at least, not at home for the time-slots available. Thank goodness for heated blankets …..

This is our third major issue, and I’m hoping it’s the last. First there was the car, then a massive problem that I’ve not mentioned yet - damp. We’re having patches of wet wall appearing at various points downstairs.  We first assumed this was a breach of the damp proof course installed 37 years go when we first moved in, and have had surveys done plus estimates. But Simon, our architect son, thinks it’s just a condensation issue, so we’re now waiting for an independent surveyor report likely to side with him. This would definitely be a less expensive and far less messy answer.
And now the boiler.

But back to blip, and today’s challenge - something linked to sound. Of course, it has to be G and his violin. I decide to use a slow shutter to try to get a sense of vibration, and in the end go for a low key minimalist shot. G is there, drawing his bow across the strings, actually practicing some scales - but you’ll just have to take my word for this!

Thanks to Carolina for hosting through September!
