A view from St Swithin

The Giants Causeway

A day being a tourist. And the sun shone. First thing we headed for the Giants Causeway and got free admission thanks to our NTS membership. It’s an interesting place (more so if you are a geologist) but I reckon Staffa is better for these basalt columns (though admittedly much harder to get to). We managed a wee walk and really enjoyed the costal scenery. Back at the visitors centre we’d coffee but didn’t hang about as it was getting really busy.
Later in the day we walked over the famous Carrick a Rede rope bridge. Great fun but slightly scary as there’s 100ft of air beneath you until you reach the sea. The bridge was originally used by salmon fishermen to reach a small fishing bothy on the far promontory (extra)
