Bit of a change
Up early in the cold and misty dawn.
Breakfast and tidy up then cast off and motoring out of the marina by 0830.
Hardly any wind but put the genny out and it just about filled so I shut off the engine and chuckled up river. The wind was light but the direction meant I could just lay the course. As the morning progressed it got a little stronger and by the time I was preparing to stow the sail it was freshening. Picked the mooring up ok and apart from getting mud all over my trousers from the mooring strops all was good.
Within 15 minutes it was gusting quite heavily and the row ashore in the dinghy was uncomfortable and a bit wet.
A glance at the wind speed readout in the club showed gusts of force 5…..
The racers liked it, because the wind before the start was light the OOD set a short course, so they had a quick race and plenty of time to go to the bar!
