Of to Koln

Up early for a trip to Stansted for weekend away with our parkrun pals. Very exciting! 

We all met up for our flight, which was unfortunately delayed so that the planned departure of 8.45 am did not leave the tarmac 'till 11.15 am. Free coffee and a 59 minutes flight time helped. 

Our friend E planned to travel from Heathrow with another pal. Unfortunately things did not go to plan. First she found out that her pall was too ill to fly; undaunted, she determined to fly solo. Only to learn later, that her flight was cancelled.  Some stressful rearrangements did not resolve the situation and she was stuck in the UK, sad to miss out. We tried not to let this dampen our spirits,  but we shall really miss her.

Once checked into the hotel, we had time to visit the city and eat a fab meal. We walked from the hotel, over the River Rhein - the bridge was littered with thousands of lock love tokens. So lovely to see. I had memories of the cathedral from a previous visit in my youth. It did not disapoint. Awesome. Tired and excited for tomorrow's parkrun we returned for the night.
