Leeds Castle
The start of our journey home today, and we decided to visit Leeds Castle. My mum has a Yorkshire Tea Towel that includes Leeds Castle, but it's in Kent for anyone that doesn't know!
The day out was quite expensive (£35 each) but it did fill up the entire day for us, we were there at about 11am and didn't leave until 5.30pm. They had a sculpture trail, which kept us amused and interested - a couple of examples in the extra.
After lunch we watched a bird of prey display that mostly consisted of them flying birds around the audience. Well, apart from the first owl who didn't like the fact there was a glider up in the air and refused to fly. Apparently, as it's silent the birds think a glider is just a big bird and want to keep hidden. The display ended with a hybrid red/black kite flying and he didn't want to stop circling, even when he started being mobbed by the jackdaws.
After having a cuppa we went for a tour of the castle, and then had a further walk around the gardens before making our way back to the car.
We then had the long journey back up to our hotel near Cambridge, making our way through the Dartford Tunnel and stopping off at the Lakeside shopping centre (apparently the largest amount of shopping space in one place in Europe!) for a lovely meal at Bella Italia.
Today also marks 10 years of this daily photo lark, as measured in the books I produce. Today is the last image in book 20, where each book has 183 images in it.
