Marking Time

" What's the joke?"

Photo (from left to right ) M. with artists Lys Hansen and Roy Petrie.
I’ve had lots of visitors today to my exhibition which closes this weekend.

Lys has been my mentor over the years from the time I first enrolled at Dollar Summer school in her Life Drawing class to this exhibition which she helped me design. Neither of us thought back then that artificial intelligence would come to play such  huge role in our lives, even in the field of the visual arts.

Roy was the graphic artist on the Glasgow Herald and he was keen to see how I was using A.I .

He immediately recognized its potential for artists and says if it had been available when he was working on newspapers it would have made his job easier.

Today he has developed his own fine art practice with a studio in Glasgow and he has travelled extensively in China and Tibet.

Malcolm remains nonplussed by A.I generated art preferring the traditional work in The Burrell Museum where he is a volunteer guide.

Exhibition “The Real and the Unreal” , Dublane museum, closes tomorrow afternoon.
