Back in time

The Jersey Festival of Words is on, and tonight Deb and I went to see John Nettles (original Bergerac).

Firstly the venue. This art deco monolith was the Odeon of my childhood. Many Saturday morning matinees attended and classic movie releases seen here! Now it’s the Freedom centre which I think (?) is a church of sorts.

So the talk was held here. John Nettles was promoting the authentic, not abridged, diaries kept by a high ranking German officer who was part of the administration here during the WW2 occupation. Fascinating.

Glad I didn’t stay in the queue for book signing as heavy rain started minutes after we got through the door!
