Late

Our very late potted sunflower is finally flowering outside the back door. Even the rain and wind of yesterday couldn't defeat it, although it did blow onto the lawn.

At school today, we planned to pick apples and even brought two extendable pickers, only to find that we could only access the tree with about 10 fruit on it. The other tree, laden with loads of red apples, has been cordoned off as someone spotted a nest full of very late baby birds in it. They were worried that the kids were disturbing the chicks so the whole area around it has been cordoned off. Good luck birds! I think they might be collared doves but it was hard to get a look.
