Friday: Preparing for Winter

It was a very stormy night, very heavy rain and strong winds - we’ve had a mostly dry day today with just a gentle breeze to dry the washing … but as I started typing the beginning of this sentence it started to rain … and the wind picked up … what have I done? !! :-(((

Incidentally, the washing dried very quickly on the washing line outside and it had an afternoon on the clothes maid indoors with the sun shining on it through the window :-)

MrD was on deliveries all day and managed to get everything done and finished in good time for our dinner this evening.

Today’s Blip is a progress report on pink shop garlic at top left of top photo, Kale “Red Russian” to the right and the green tray has Calendula/Pot Marigold seedlings which will hopefully flower during winter and early spring!
Bottom photo is (so far!) successful seedlings of Welsh Onions, grown from seed, which I’m hoping will be eaten as Spring Onions then as clumps of perennial onions - https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/26473/allium-fistulosum/details - many failures in growing these in the past, they’ll be in the greenhouse … let’s see if this is a game changer!?
