Black-necked Grebe

We took a poorly timed drive over to Crosby Marine Park this afternoon. 
When we set off it was quite bright, dry and hardly any wind, but when we arrived 25 minutes later, it was raining and blowing a gale :(
We popped into the Lake House for a drink and a piece of cake in the hope that the rain would blow over, which it did - almost. 
Just a few drops of light rain remained so we walked up towards the beach and the boating lake looking out for our target bird and there it was, in it's non-breeding plumage - just diving away in the distance. Soon after we got there, it started to rain much more heavily, so I rattled off a few shots and we headed back to the car with some speed. Both of us were quite soaked  which was a shame as I'd quite liked to have spent some more time there.  We will need to go back again soon.
