Jackdaws?

I experimented with my camera today, following a small teaching session from my daughter and ex yesterday, because I wanted to photo these birds onto off the church tower weather vane. The church is behind our garden, so I needed to zoom in. But if I zoomed in on auto it gave a 'tripod' shake warning, so I took it off auto. I made the shutter speed very fast, and then I could take the photo without using the tripod. I was very pleased with myself!!

I think the birds might be jackdaws.

And anyone got any ideas as to what the weather vane is?
