A Fine Time in the Garden

A katydid, a flock of lesser goldfinches, and an anise swallowtail caterpillar—all hiding in plain sight as I puttered around the yard this morning. Neither of us humans got a proper night’s sleep last night so we did not intend to do much today, but you know how that goes. Someone came to dig the vegetable beds— we are smart enough at least to avoid that heavy work, so I was able to set out the broccoli, collards and broccolini when he was done prepping the soil.  A quick run to the farmers’ market, another minute to drop off a load of bruised apples to a friend who works with horses, and I’m wasted, done, beat, not to mention fried. Maybe a few minutes of restorative zentangling are in order…
