We Made a Book!
Netty's girls stayed with us while she and Rich went to pick up a hire car from Évora, after various changes to plans. Decided to make a book together about their summer, which we all contributed to, think it was a success. Though we missed out Mike's 70th birthday meal - well, couldn't get it perfect in a morning.
We also made peach cobbler with some of the peaches - absolutely simple and delicious, and very forgiving of small people helping:
- melt a load of butter in an oven dish in a medium oven
- spread over a batter of 1 cup flour, less than that of sugar, 2tsp baking powder, salt, and less than a cup of milk
- spoon the peaches and juice over
- bake for about 40 mins
- serve with ice-cream or thick yoghurt
You could put cinnamon over the top, but the girls weren't keen. The batter rises up inbetween the peaches and gets quite crispy.
Gratefuls:
- remembering good times together
- a smattering of rain, think we were on the edge of a cloud passing over Portugal, but it's cooled the air, at least
- our kids helping my special needs brother move into his new home, so grateful for them, and that he's been able to move with his housemates, and near to our church and everything else he's familiar with
(The panels on the table are the roof for the N Wing porch, Mike was painting them.)
