The flower of Asturias
I didn’t sleep much last night, but my chest has gradually improved today. I still have a horrible tight cough, but I can now speak in sentences. (Did you know that is one way we use to assess the severity of wheezing?). Actually I was not quite that bad but talking was an effort.
Consequently I have been in my bed for most of the day. I am bored rigid, but the day was brightened by various visitors. The hotel receptionist has appeared regularly with cups of tea and later on with a sandwich. Geraldine, one of the tour leaders, brought a splendid breakfast of lovely healthy food and I had half at lunchtime.
The cleaner, Mimi, from Romania was a highlight. She speaks quite good English (learned it from starting Primary School) and was happy to chat. She cleaned my bathroom thoroughly and cheerfully and she wanted to be sure that I had all I needed.
It’s been very hot and very windy. I could not keep cool but rain has now fallen.
The photographers visited the local town and two beaches, one with splendid sea stacks.
(i apologise for the one image I took. It was over exposed but I did not spot that in camera.) I could not bear to leave it when I found a real live hydrangea head in my bedroom. Apologies to those people who saw the first, rather sad image!
Since BBC player is not available here, I started to watch La Maison on Apple TV. It is in French with subtitles and is a very slick production about fashion houses. You could imagine it was an American series.
Have you noticed that the French “Je suis desole” sounds much more affecting than “I’m sorry”
Tomorrow is another day. Thank you for all your kind messages and concern. I’m sure I will bounce back soon!
