Posy

Most of the day has been spent processing the tomatoes and blackcurrants into soup and coulis.  It might be time to switch on the little freezer, especially as the apples will be coming off the trees before too long.

I took a gamble on putting in a load of washing as it was forecast to rain, but touchwood it hasn't yet arrived late afternoon.

We had a good catchup with Tomas and Marketa in Czechia last night and their two energetic children.  Rosalie brought her entire bedroom out to show us and was totally unfazed by our lack of approving Czech adjectives.  I guess onomatopoeic sounds, clapping and smiling go down okay in any language.  When they went off to bed, Tomas brought us up to date with the flooding in the country.  We walked with them in the Jeseniky Mountains on our last visit and to the north of those mountains the flooding was horrendous.  Tomas and some of his Scout friends had spent last weekend in his home village and also in the Jeseniky village helping folks clean up.  Bridges, roads and rail tracks have been severely damaged, and houses near the watercourses too.  On the positive side, thousands of Czechs have volunteered to support the emergency services.

Having been away, the garden needed some dead heading.  The Cosmos flowers are facing towards the neighbour's wall so I thought I would enjoy a few in the kitchen before they go over, hence the posy.
