Blip Meet

Today I finally met the lovely Paladian and TheRower  all the way from Australia and also Uniqueandlovely.

We had a easy walk and chatter through Reading's Oracle and walked across the canal (I think it's the Kennet and Avon) to one of the many restaurants, Zizzi.

We had an excellent lunch and the chatting continued thoughout and on the way back.

Then I picked up my suitcase which the hotel had very kindly kept for me, and walked across the road to the station where I very easily managed to catch an early train (at 3 instead of 4.30).

Passenger assistance was excellent at both Reading and Paddington.  At Reading the young nan ably pushed me in a wheelchair and pulled my suitcase at the same time. At Paddington the buggy driver very amazingly took me right to the underground for circle line.

He arranged with the underground to give me passenger assistance, but that just meant walking with me to the lift and onto the platform.  I had to pull my own suitcase...and only then did I think I'd packed too much!!  However he helped me to get a seat on the packed tube and another man met me at King's Cross and took me up to the main terminal, where I had just missed a train.

Passenger assistance was again fabulous.  I had a chocolate muffin whilst waiting and too a photo of the interesting Kings Cross ceiling.  Then a young lady this time came to pick me up and take a short cut through to the train.  I easily got a seat and she put my case up...explaining that someone would get it down at Cambridge.

There are no seats to reserve on the Cambridge trains...and no quiet carriages... so soon a young man came next to me, opened his work laptop and made a very loud call....and if I really wanted to I could have read details on his laptop it was so close...

Anyway by then I was so tired and as I read my kindle, I fell asleep for about 30 minutes.  Good job I woke up as the train was going onwards to Kings Lynn...

I am so happy to be in Cambridge with my Dad and Stepmum for a few days.

We're planning to go to Anglesey Abbey in the morning :)
