A greenhouse, believe it or not*
I had three attempts at loading the dismantled greenhouse onto my bike trailer before conceding it was definitely unsafe and probably impossible. I was just about to have a go at securing a big box on the trailer with rope and bungees then loading the pieces vertically when the light dawned: the council has provided me a free kit for moving long things. I've previously used it for wheeling home a cherry tree and its ceramic pot found in a skip and, in comparison, this load was very much easier to extract when I got to my destination. My 20kg of aluminium earned me £16 (the same weight of copper tube would have been £114, mixed iron £2.50). Just as well I'm in it for love, not money.
This evening's concert was by the five 'New Generations' quartets who've been selected for OCMF masterclasses this week: Valegro Quartet, Aestus Quartet, Chaos Quartet, Fides Quartet and, the highlight for me, Animato Quartet from the Netherlands playing Britten's String Quartet No 1 in D major. Loads of music I hadn't heard before.
*minus the door and window which I'm keeping to make a cold frame.
