Life is like a river

Fresh coat of paint

These houses, Hafnarstræti 39 and Hafnarstræti 41, were built in 1903-1905 and still look rather good today.
The brown one, #39, was painted just a few weeks ago and those adorable new steps replaced an older badly made balcony or veranda-construction.
I really like the new look!

Extra photos:
1) A diptych I made 10 years ago.
The photo on top is from 1907 when Frederick VIII King of Denmark came to visit Akureyri (that's the reason the houses are decorated).
People would almost "park" their boat near their house, just like we now park our car. The one below is a photo I took September 17th 2014 on my way home from work.
2) Photo from before 2017:  An
aerial view of Innbærinn, the center of Akureyri and Oddeyri, with my rough red sketching of the area (desaturated) where land was filled to make space for more houses and a new bigger road to the airport (opened in July 1973  when Margrethe II The Queen of Denmark came to visit Akureyri and that's why it is called Drottningarbraut or Queens Lane).
