The Third Ghost

I took the spaniel for a walk around the parkland at Croft Castle this morning. We followed the Ghost tree trail, a route that visits dead and dying veteran trees each of which is accompanied by a drawing or painting and a poem. My blip is of the third ghost which is in the avenue of Sweet Chestnut trees believed to have been grown from chestnuts taken from captured  ships of the Spanish Armada in 1580. Many of these trees are now dying. The third ghost has suffered from Phytophthora cinnamonic (black ink) disease and has been struck by lightening. The outer surface has been bleached white by the sun. More ghost trees in future blips.
