Hibiscus

This is the perennial hibiscus, a late bloomer with large, showy flowers.

I didn't plant it, it is growing in a former customers garden and hopefully the new owner will become a customer of mine. The house just sold about a month ago, when it went on the market in the spring the asking price was 2.5 million, then he dropped it to 2.3 million. It has all of the latest technology including solar panels on the roof. It is a beautiful house, I have been inside it, but there is very little land with it. It has lake frontage but it is on a main road. The new owner is interested in having me continue to look after the gardens plus she wants some color in the back yard. The only garden in the back yard is a row of ground cover junipers that I planted in 2023 that at some point will grow to cover the rocks along the lake. She would like to make the bed wider and have some color there.
We had another potluck picnic tonight but it will likely be one of the last ones. We will soon need to bring blankets. Plus it is getting dark earlier now, the sun sets just after 7 pm.
