The red admiral

I was lucky: During the short lunch break, I was looking for blips with my camera and was delighted when I spotted this admiral butterfly in the hedge, fuelling up on sap from the ivy flowers to have enough energy for its flight south. However, he wouldn't tell me whether he wanted to fly directly over the Alps or circle them westwards towards the south of France.

It's hard to believe, but today is my 4,000 blip entry. What started at the end of December 2012 has continued with a few blip gaps until today. And I'm still delighted that blipfoto is such a nice community all over the world. Let's make sure it stays that way.
