Beetle Crossing

Fletcher and I spotted this large (approx 1.5") shiny beetle crossing the street. It was moving as quickly as its tiny legs would carry it and identifies as a Strategus, more commonly known as a Rhinoceros Beetle or sometimes an Ox Beetle. This one was most likely a female since it lacked the large horn which a male Strategus sports. We watched over it until it successfully made it to the side of the street and up into a yard. m
