Monday mistiness.

This morning looking out across the gardens, the mist was wrapping itself round everywhere. No doubt about it now at all that Autumn has arrived.
It was a gloomy beginning, with the lights in the school across the road, shining out and reflecting back off the wet forecourt. All this at 8:00 a.m.
I was going to drive to a large retail park, about 20 minutes from here, to buy some tracksuit bottoms ready for after I’ve had my hip replaced at the beginning of November,
As I drove there the route is through open countryside bounded by hedges and trees, with fields on either side, the mist was very much in evidence.
I thought it would be quiet once I arrived but the very large car park for M&S was literally full, at 10:30am. I drove to another of the car parks and easily found a space.
I went into Go Outdoors and got two bargain buys of tracksuit bottoms and a top. 2 items for £20 in the sale, and a named brand!
After a coffee, I drove home but stopped on the way at a place where we usually have our morning walks, a bit curtailed lately for me.
Across from where I parked the car are open fields just over the boundary hedge. The line of trees at the end of the field were just impressions in their enveloping shrouds.
I did take a photo but the trees were so faint I decided on the ones nearer to where I was standing,
There are now carpets of leaves forming beneath those which have begun
to shed them earlier than others.
Grass everywhere is luminous green after all the rain.
I stood and looked for awhile before returning home.
Autumn has a beauty all of its own especially where we live on the outer edges of the suburbs.
This afternoon was partly spent catching up with my sister, who lives in Knaresborough, on FaceTime.
As I write it is so gloomy out there that I have had the lamp on since 2:00pm.
But I think, at last, for now. It has stopped raining!
