A little further down the road I watched Ilkley Town Women play their first ever FA Cup tie against a team two tiers above them, Chesterfield Ladies (extra). Ilkley (dark blue) competed well, but the difference in class in the final third of the field showed, with the visitors scoring three with no reply by the break, despite a standout performance from the Ilkley goalie. No further goals were added in the second half, so 0-3 it finished. Chesterfield progress to the next round and the young Ilkley squad can bank the experience as they continue their development and progress up the the leagues
