The Wandoo one of the most important trees for Wildlife in W.A with many animals using the hollows of trees for nesting and breeding also the shed branches on the ground are also home to the brushtailed Wambenger.
Several Bat species, also a variety of birds nest in the hollows of the tree such as the Carnaby's Black Cockatoo and the Barn Owl.
Hollow logs on the ground are Habitat to the Brushtail Possum, the Chudditch also the Echidnas as well as Carpet Pythons, Gould's Monitors Western Bearded Dragons and other Reptiles.
The Foliage and bark also support a myriad of insects and invertebrates ,making it a good habitat for the Birds that live in the Wandoo..

However the Wandoo Forrests these days is most valued for watershed protection. Most of the Eastern or high Salinity risk area of Perth's Forrested water supply catchment are dominated by Wandoo.
We took a Winter drive out today to Bindoon a Country Town an Hours drive North East of Perth, We passed this stand of Wandoo on our way.
