If you can't beat them?

Tea and cake with son G in the local garden centre which looked more like a Christmas store with  plants, bulbs etc. despite the fact we are only 3 weeks into September.
Many years ago we had a small Christmas tree which we used to bring into the house for a couple of weeks each year before it got too big.It was then planted in the back garden to fill a gap but really made only slow progress. In the last year it has gained about 4 feet in height, and it has been naturally decorated by a Fuchsia growing beside it which has reached almost the same height., so it could be argued that my Christmas decoration is well advanced just like the garden centre?
