Looking down into Rosedale
We left home after lunch yesterday and had a surprisingly good journey from home to the North York Moors. I'd expected us to get caught up in the start of holiday traffic as many schools finished yesterday for the summer break but we were clearly ahead of the tide. We stopped for the first time to look down over Rosedale and were met with a cool and refreshing breeze - very welcome after the heat of the last few weeks. (To think that last year we were complaining about all the rain!) I've blipped Rosedale before when we walked the valley circuit in 2011. Looking down on it today it's hard to imagine its industrial past.
Being back in the cottage is a little like being home from home and we were welcomed warmly by Pam when we arrived . I'm not sure why put I was feeling very tired last night - so no walk to the pub for our evening meal and instead we had spaghetti with the first of the peas that we've grown on the allotment. Delicious. I hope they've not gone over by the time we get back home. We also have pounds of strawberries to get through - some we gave away but we've still got a fair few left for our breakfasts this week.
p.s. and the heather is coming out on the moor - it's not overall purple yet but it's definitely on its way.
