Pacing about in Tangiwai Reserve

The Australian magpie is self-introduced from Australia. It can be aggressive when defending its territory; I have seen one chasing away Kahu (a hawk). This one may have been patrolling the boundaries of its territory, Or perhaps it was guarding its mate (only the female magpie incubates the eggs).
