10 swans

2 adults and 8 fledging cygnets. There were 9 of the latter, but one has already been chased away a week or so ago, although it has made various unsuccessful attempts, as related by the Friends of the Water of Leith Basin on Facebook, to rejoin the family group.

I woke up this morning after a long sleep feeling very sluggish and exceedingly stiff. I managed to ease the latter condition, and the former condition was dealt a firm blow by making myself get on the Peloton Bike for a ride before I headed down to the market for a rendezvous with meles. Coffee was drunk. Pies were purchased. I stopped off at the nearby supermarket on the way home and picked up a few more bits which should see me through until I leave on Wednesday.

I spent the afternoon alternating between cleaning various bits of the house (starting with the kitchen) and reading the next book group book, which I am now most of the way through. I also chose my own book for the November meeting which I am hosting.

While feeling periodically quite tired and sleepy, I found it hard to actually get to sleep in the evening. Perhaps I should have done more with my day. I assumed I needed another quiet day to get over the effects of a very busy first half of September, but perhaps not. I'll try to be more active tomorrow.
