Not a good boy

Two minutes before I took this, the dog peed against the ‘no dogs’ sign. It seems the dogs of East Toronto (and they are legion) are no observers of rules.

Lovely lie in until 8, then up to make cookie dough and head into St Lawrence Market to shop for a picnic style lunch for today’s visitors. An excellent market and, as is our way, we came away rather more heavily laden than the number of guests could justify!

Home in an uber driven by a nice chap from Birmingham, cookies cooked and lunch laid out. Our visitors, R and L and daughter S drove from an hour out of town to share a few hours with us and were, as ever, excellent company.

Just after they left, A showed up, fresh from the gym and - happily - hungry. He helped us greatly with our leftovers problem by eating a heap of food, and then taking more away with him to feed his friends who were coming to join him for a music festival.

Later, a stroll on the beach to look at the thunderstorm rolling in across the city, then home just before the torrential rain started for a quiet evening with Lord of the Rings and the remaining contents of the fridge.
