Hydrangea paniculata Polar Bear

We were visiting friends from the midlands today who are staying in Appledore for a holiday.  We decided to meet at Rosemoor Gardens.  We had a lovely time catching up with each other while strolling around the gardens.  The weather was good although a little windy, butterflies and dragonflies were seen and there was lots of colourful plants.

We managed to find this Hydrangea (Polar Bear) which had been listed as in 'good form' and it was nestled against the colourful fruits of a Cornus korusa.  The vegetable garden was looking very good and we were astounded by the weight of the Fig Leaf Gourd, see extra.  It's a plant that grows in South America and is very versatile.  The unripe fruit is boiled as a vegetable, the ripe fruit eaten as a sweet or drink, the seeds provide protein and the stems and flowers are eaten as a vegetable.

A lovely day out and so good to see our friends after several years.
