Salamancan Tourist
I hopped off the bus a stop early to start at the small garden on the walls of the city. On the way there, I happened across La Cueva de Salamanca with fascinating legends linked to the devil and witchcraft.
When I arrived at the garden, it was very peaceful and I sat on one of the stone benches for a while before heading for the Ieronimus Towers.
A network of steep and narrow spiral staircases took you on an exploration of the bell tower, clock tower and the roof terraces of the cathedral and it was mighty impressive. I always find these massive and ornate buildings questionable in money well spent but I admired the feat of engineering nonetheless.
After wandering a few streets, appreciating architecture at every turn, I sat in the sunshine with my umbrella up as half the sky rained and half filled with blue. I found a supermarket for a few supplies and caught the bus back.
I’d whiled away the morning chilling out, plotting and having lunch so it was already time for tea and now a few stretches to keep me going.
