Those ties

I rarely watch TV but, when I do, I have to have something to do - knitting, stitching etc. One thing we do watch, and we actually watch this together, is Masterchef. Whilst we were trying to catch up with the current series the other evening, I was playing about with bits of the discarded ties, which you may remember I took apart a while back and started some quilting with the pieces. 

Anyway this is what I came up with. The backing is a piece of wadding that came from the middle of a tie, the back dotted fabric is from a backing piece, the rest are all scraps from the tie silk. 

I was only playing and the stitching isn't great - silk just frays as you look at it - but Gordon was quite taken with it as he remembered all the different ties he used to wear and then wondered when was the last time he actually wore one. So it may go up on the wall as a reminder.
