Cycling Thru (TT486 results, upcoming TT487)
Back at the parcel locker, and I thought this close-up of some street art I’ve blipped previously, would make a nice segue into the upcoming TT theme of “surreal”. In relation to the TT I’ve just hosted, here are the results.
I think for many people (including me) “iris” was quite the challenge! My primary ”focus” (hoho) in setting it had been the eye, but I was also thinking of the flower. (Challenge themes sometimes take on a hemispheric bias, so I thought I’d let the “global south” have its turn to shine. Only irises are barely out here..)
Anyhoo, there were lots of brave attempts at eye photography (including animals, birds, insects), inspiring allusions to rainbows and camera lenses, and explorations of the iris flower in its many iterations (seeds, buds, bulbs, blooms)… Thanks a lot everyone for taking part; these are the photos I’m highlighting for the purposes of a results selection, but it’s worth looking at how everyone approached it. Kudos to all the iris-selfies, it can be quite confronting to expose yourself this way, I know full well.

I’ll finish with three quotes
"The camera is not an eye, and when you press the shutter, it’s not just a mechanism that opens and closes. The camera sees more than the eye, so why not use it?" – Edward Weston
“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart, and head.” -Henri Cartier-Bresson.
“You might be a photographer if… Your eyesight from staring at the computer has gone from F11 to F1.8.” – Naman Pokarna’s Photography
Next week’s challenge is “surreal” (#TT487). It’s time to go crazy – pre- or post- production; bring out your tiny people, or indulge in some collage; frottage or automatism. I’ve no idea what I’ll come up with myself, this might be another tricky one!
