New Old Garden Arch for my side yard
I love the store in Sarasota called Sarasota Architectural Salvage. They have all kind of wonderful old and reproduction items for your yards and spaces. I got this arch some time ago, and just recently moved it to my side yard, to create an entrance for the side yard and to frame my lovely little jacaranda I planted recently. It needs a little more touch up; we ran out of paint before completion. As it is iron, it rusts terribly in Florida, so we needed to protect it from the elements for a longer life. More bronze paint is needed. I may faux it with some verdigris as it was getting some nice color, just a lot of rust, also. A crumbling arch is of no use!
Lots to do to shield the views of the utility poles and garbage cans, street traffic, etc. but it is a work in progress! I will probably plant plumbago around the bottom of the arch, as I think it looks so nice against the fretwork. Another blip, another day!
