Tiny Tuesday: Iris (Backblip)

Legendary blipper (and photographic mentor to many blippers including me!) John Gravett visited us to give a brilliant presentation on landscape photography at our camera club, so it seemed appropriate to photograph part of his iris for today's TT challenge (thanks to McCaviti for hosting). After all, he has an amazing "eye for a good photo"! It's always lovely to see him, and to give him a bed for the night to save him a late drive back to Keswick.

I chose to crop the photo to show the detail of the collarette of the iris (the junction between the outer and inner parts of it), which is more obvious in some eyes than in others.

The extra isn't so good looking - it's the tyre which burst on us on Sunday just before I took it to be replaced. We were grateful that it happened on a rear wheel and not on a motorway. The more observant of you may notice that it's 10 years old and maybe should have been replaced on that basis a while back, but it was stored in semi-darkness for most of its life (originally as the spare, stored under the car and for 1/3 of each year in the depths of our garage while I was using winter tyres) so I suspect the main reason for its demise was potholes. Fortunately the steel wheel was undamaged - I'm not a fan of alloys.
