Belisha beacons

It's years since I've seen these. In fact, didn't know they still existed. Named after some long forgotten minister of transport, I think. The girl I took to the 2nd year secondary school dance was killed on a zebra crossing with Belisha beacons. Just 13, I think. Hated those useless orange globes ever since. Poor girl. I wonder what sort of life she'd have had.
