Busy

Today was full on from 07:30, when I got up, until the end of the last meeting at 22:30.

I'd not bought any groceries, so had nothing to eat for breakfast, but at least coffee had been left for me to use in the apartment. It was a very pleasant, warm sunny morning, and my walk into the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) that took in nine Turf zones wasn't far from being the shortest.

At ZIB I was greeted by familiar faces and soon joined by PhD student B and then И, who was meeting B for the first time. The first 45 minute talk took 50 minutes, so I had only 40 minutes to give a talk that I'd feared would take longer than my scheduled 45! Fortunately I could skip a lengthy slide because I'd discovered that the next speaker was going to cover the method, so I finished just on time for the coffee break. Fuelled by biscuits and more coffee, I listened to the next two talks from the back of the room.

I joined И and our former developer L outside, and we went to lunch at the Mensa (canteen) with other people we know from ZIB for some light-hearted chat. Walking back with L, I verified that I was on the right lines with my plans for her solver. Then И and I spent the afternoon working in a borrowed office, before meeting B after his three-hour tutorial and heading off to eat at an Italian restaurant near my apartment.

The day ended with us attending a 90-minute meeting on-line meeting with collaborators in Brazil, California and New Zealand - the reason for the late meeting.

Tomorrow will be easier!
